What would be your HD gaming solution?

In HD (High Definition) gaming war we got two competitors. Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation3 (also known as PS3). Xbox is the New Era bought by Microsoft to the world representing a dramatic leap forward in high-definition gaming. PS3 is a creation of SONY, not only a gaming device, it’s a media centre.

Xbox 360 is little bit cheap in price comparing to Playstation3. Crated based on a custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU of 3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each with 1 MB L2 cache. To handle the graphics Custom ATI Graphics Processor runs in 500 MHz with 512MB installed RAM. This combination makes Xbox capable to create 9 billion dot product operations per second and 500 million triangles per second. Not only a gaming devise, it’s your living room media sender. It can store songs, videos, and movies and play them any time you want trough your TV. The next best thing in Xbox 360 is the awesome Joystick (they call it JoyPad). You can play hours without any discomfort because the keys located in user friendly way, its wireless and light in weight.

Xbox 360 released in 4 edition in the time as Core, Arcade, Pro and Elite. Basically the same but some new feathers were added in new versions like increase in hard disk space, adding HDMI (Hi Definition Media Interface) ports

But this hi end device got some major disadvantages. This big bad guy get error call “Red Ring of Death (RROD)” but don’t worry, Xbox 360 Elite comes with 3yrs warranty. The next thing is the noise. Xbox 360 cooling system and also DVD rom ( HD DVD rom in “Elite” version) make a annoying noise, so its bit annoying when you playing multimedia using Xbox. Except those problems, Xbox is an awesome gaming console

The opponent of the Xbox console is Sony Playstation3. Based on 3.2GHz Cell - 7 SPEs, but got less cache (512kb). Got an nVidia RSX@550MHz GPU. Bit powerful than Xbox GPU (Fairly similar). This combination powerful to produce 51 billion dot products per second (in total system performance)

Playstation3 got a sixaxis controller (it sense your movements), multiplayer facility up to 7 players, awesome blu ray player (that makes the PS3 1 step leap from Xbox 360 elite).

But PS3 is overpriced itself and also games are very expensive

As a conclusion Xbox is good gaming device with good graphic, chap priced games (flashing your drive make it able to play downloaded games) (its illegal and also it will stop you from using Xbox live), good choice of games and also Xbox 360 elite price also reasonable. But it got a big power brick, noisy cooling fans (make your media experience discomfort), heat up quickly and it got only a HD DVD drive.

When concerning about Play station 3 it’s very good at media handling, no noise at all, no big power bricks. But PS3 controller don’t have long battery life, don’t have big choice of games and games are very expensive, and also PS3 is bit overpriced

If you are a hardcore gamer, it’s better to buy an Xbox 360. If you thinking about multimedia handling device, buy a play station 3
